Frequently asked questions

Where does the name WeAreFrank! come from?

WeAreFrank! has been our name since 2020. Previously, we used the name Integration Partners and the Frank!Framework was called the IBIS Adapter Framework (IAF).

After more than 6 years of being called Integration Partners, it was time for something new. We chose the name WeAreFrank! because to be frank means to be honest and transparent, which reflects our core values. Not only do we provide user-friendly and customer-oriented solutions, we are always open, honest and transparent about our services. In the world of Closed Source software, there is very little transparency, especially about the costs involved in creating, developing and maintaining integrations and solutions within integrations. We strongly believe that the user of our integration platform is also the owner of this solution. We therefore do not charge any license or usage costs. The development costs are also transparent and lower than those of Closed Source software.

Is it fun at WeAreFrank!?

At WeAreFrank! it’s always relaxed and fun, whether you’re a client or part of the team. We don’t work with strict hierarchies and everyone can do their own thing, both at our office in the heart of Rotterdam—complete with dartboard, air hockey, foosball table and ping pong—and at home. We work based on what you do, not how long you work. When your work is done (and done perfectly), how you spend your time is your business. Oh, and we’re also great at organizing pub quizzes and (virtual) Friday afternoon get-togethers. Working with us is the perfect mix of hard work, cool events and doing your own thing.

How did the Frank!Framework come about?

The Frank!Framework originated about 20 years ago at Nationale-Nederlanden and ING. It was developed as a flexible solution for linking systems. Instead of a one-off solution, a modular system was created that could address multiple integration issues, and it grew into a versatile framework that can be used by different companies and for various applications. Ten years ago, WeAreFrank! was allowed to make it open-source under the Apache 2.0 License.
